Lgordo is infamous around these parts
Default Jumping Speedometer 2003 Fatboy

Hi, It is not the speedometer. I got a new one and it did the same thing.

The speedometer jumps around a lot. Sometimes it settles down and give the correct speed but not for too long.

The bike as 21k and is in excellent condition.

Most say it is the sensor on the trans (magnet) ?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance. LG

Default UPdate

OK, UPdate.

We tried a new speedo head. Did the same thing.

So I put in a new Trans sensor. Now the speedo jumps more than before.

With the original speedo head and new trans. sensor it is mostly pegged on 10 to 12 mph.

It does jump up to 50 of 60 a few times for a second or two, then back to 10 to 12 mph.

This is on a Fatboy 2003. HD has discontinued the original speedo head.

So where do I go from here.

A last resort: Garmin GPS mounted on top of my non working speedo.
