Default ground up build frame questions

I have a 2003 flst that i am modifing into a strutless rear fender. This is my first harley frame build ....the swing arm measures 10" isd i believe it to be stock ....can anyone tell me what is the widest size rim i could fit comfortably in this swing arm? Would a 16" 5.5 be too wide? Need to learn alot for this build any information would be greatly appriciated.....Thanks
