Yep. If you come west out of Austin, you'll hit my town in about 90 miles, and then it's just another 500 to El Paso.

not all on a bike,, I was with my first wife and we had cars as well,, a tiny Plymouth sundance which died and a chevy lumina i think,, which was cool,, but i was also a dispatch rider at the time,, had dome some dispatching in New York for a buddy who set up a freight company in Newark and was looking at the viability of getting riders into the city.. so i was doing 1000 - 1500 a week back home anyways and just loved being in the saddle..

There's a HOG club that leaves Orange, Texas on the Louisiana line one day at sunrise, to ride to El Paso in time for sunset--all Interstate 10--850 miles.

i considered the ironbutt when i had my ... ahem ... goldwing ... but then i thought why would i want to ride that long just to say i had ridden that long? cause if i remember, i started riding cause i enjoy it, not cause i was an endurance junkie.
i have a buddy who did it on a yamaha roadstar, he enjoyed it, and got his patch, but he wouldn't do it again.

I have done just about 800 miles in a day and just damn near killed me. I cant even imagine doing 1000 in one day. Hell by the time we were hitting that 800 mile mark there wasnt hardly anywhere to get gas.

most ive ever done is 740 ish on a Yamaha Genesis 1000 during the postal strike of 1987,, but you know that was just for work and pretty boring stuff,, i want to get to the US and just head out on a road and not stop
for me to do 1000 in a day here i would have to go round and round this frickin rock!!

Thanks briscoe. I didn't include the stop at all the scenic overlooks(photo ops), nick nack shops, truck stops (to flirt with the waitresses) constuction sites (to use the porta-johns), and small town main street (just to sit on the bike and watch people watch you)

cant beat a bit of "morning glory"
but for me,, out on the road i get pissed off having to stop for gas,,,
i'd like some kind of in flight re-fueling rig to follow me around..
you know,, there nothing like getting in the groove with the bike,, just settling and and riding..
and the deal with me is to head for scotland and so after 500 miles once you are heading into Edinburgh you hit a road called "the devils beef tub" and for all accounts it just a race track ribbon of a road feeding through mountains for about 50 miles,, its even more of a challenge than the mountain circuit on the Isle of Man..
and the trick is to hit it as hard as you can after riding all day..
when you get off,, you feel like your on top of the world,, aint nothing like it..
so quit ya fckin coffee drinkin and get out an ride
