Here's what I did... You gots to medium fast let go of the brake while the tire is spinning, keep the throttle twisted, and give the clutch some squeeze to take the bite of the spinning tire away a bit just for half a second. That gets you going and keeps you stable while the tire spins. Then by the time you let off the brake you should have let off the clutch. No gear changes until you want to shut down the spin or if you're really good I've seen people go up a gear and keep the tire spinning.

I did this in Hamburg at Hamburg Harley Days in front of everyone. Was a thrill!
