Beefing Up The Ultra
Taking the "Copperhead" over to the Dealer tomorrow for a 103" Stage II upgrade before I get the Trike Kit installed. Figured I'd better do this now as it's hard to find a Dyno for a Trike. The "generic" chart provided by the MOCO indicates the increase in torque/horsepower is pretty good in the RPM range for everyday riding....but as the Ad says, my results may vary!! Already have the True Duals, Big Sucker and SERT so the big bore kit and 255 cam properly tuned should run circles around the stock TRi-Glide!!

Not really.... unless I live over at the dealer for a week or so!!! They don't mind if I stop in and watch for a while so I might be able to get a couple shots while it's in progress.

LOL!!! If that's true I've got the fastest runnin' 54 HP Ultra in the state......Hell, I had a 1973 Honda CB 450 that made 43 HP....but then again that little motor redlined at about twice what my Harley does!!!

Oh yeah....I'll lose the bags, rear fender, rear wheel, swing arm etc. but keep the Tour-Pak and seat. The ABS Brakes will be history 'cause the rear wheel speed indicator goes away. I'll use the OEM air shocks too. Hope to sell most of what comes off. The complete 5 spoke aluminum rear wheel with tire, rotors and calipers is a pricy sumbitch all by itself. Should be able to recover a few hundred on the bags and guards too......I hope!!!

Hey, Dog, does your trike kit include a reverse gear or motor?

I'm going with the Champion mechanical reverse that's a bolt-on to my six speed. Also raking the front end 4.5 degrees to help with steering.

Well, I finally got her in the shop last Thursday. The plan is to bore my original Cylinders as they are good up to 107" so the 103" bore leaves plenty of meat. They're going to install mechanical compression releases in the heads to save wear and tear on the starter etc. and put in a beefed up clutch spring along with the flat topped pistons and 255 cam. The total job with required parts, gaskets, labor and Dyno tune is gonna be right at $1000.00. She will prolly run great as a two wheeler but when the two big ass tires and Trike box get installed I'll be about back where I started as far as performance!!

Sounds like a decent price Dog. Hell, cams alone gota run $300-$350.
Might want to think about getting a fresh set of lifters installed at the same time.
Peace of mind, ya know .

Well, what I usually tell the 'unknowing' folk, is if ya take a 96" twinkie, and add a third cylinder, you'd be right in my wheelhouse !

I've decided I'm building a car that uses 4 HD engines. Just a notification inspired by a Tri-Glide.

Here's a thought for ya......you and Sk8 duct tape those two bobbers on each side of a sidecar. 192 ci, Two wheel drive, Independent suspension, V-4 Engine, Quad exhaust.....the possibilities are endless. That way you both can ride and you'll have a place to put the bits that fall off!! Be sure to post pic's and let us know how that works for Ya!!!....Just don't try to out run each other....that prolly wouldn't end well!!

Well, the engine work is done and the reverse is installed. Waiting on the rest of the kit to arrive. Went over to the dealer and took a short test ride yesterday. Sort of wishing I hadn't already committed to the Trike after riding that beast on two wheels!! The scooter flat shits and gits now!!! The mechanic told me to "Take it easy at first, it's not what you've been riding"!! He wasn't kidding, that sumbitch will jump right out from under you!! If she runs like this with the Trike kit on it I'm one happy MOFO!!! I left it at the shop 'cause I don't know what the weather will be when the kit arrives.

The kit arrived last Thursday and, barring any unforseen problems, should be finished this Thursday. I'm going over to check on the progress tomorrow. Gonna be nice to have the Copperhead back in the garage so I can capitalize on the few remaining nice days. Supposed to be nice weather all next weekend!!
