Default noob exhaust question

Ok, time for a noob question, my sporty is a carbed 06, I have zero experience with carbed bikes. Is it a must to rejet the carb if I add aftermarket exhaust? I'd love to do stage 1 all at once, but it just aint gonna happen. The one thing that drives me nuts about my sporty is the sound, the stock pipes sound horrid, sounds like a damn sewing machine with a irratic heart beat.

You can throw so different muffs on and not need to rejet yet. When you really open up and do the AC change you will have to then.

Some are gonna say to rejet after muffler change and text book maybe, but I have done it in the past and had zero problems.

I would at least want to remove the cap that covers the idle air mixture screw, so you can richen up your low speed a bit. Your needle jet and main jet will be plenty rich for what your planning on changing.

depends on the pipes and how hard you are going to run it,, as Mike said you'll be fine pootling about with quiet baffles,, but if its a race pipe and you howl about on it you could start burning chit out..

re-jetting aint a problem,, fit the pipe and hit the jets when ya read up on it

Thanks for the responses guys, I haven't decided which exhaust I'm going run yet, but I don't want fully open drag pipes, I like the looks of the V&H ShortShots. I've been watching ebay so who knows what I'll end up with.

I've been doing lots of reading about jetting, got more to do as I plan on doing all the work myself.
