Quick release bags for Softail
Well, after reading OJ's suggestion I ordered some of these quick bag releases from EDGE leather. I just got them and will be installing over the weekend so I'll let everyone know how it goes. Hopefully well.
Ghost Brackets Quick Release Saddlebag System - Softail® Fat Boy® - FLSTF / FLSTFI / FLSTFSE (1984 to 2006)
EDGE is going to offer a small discount for HDRidersUSA.com members and they do have a full range of saddlebags etc.
I got the bag releasers at a discount, but it acutally wasn't much for doing a full review to our membership. I think they ought to have provided them at no cost for testing since we'll end up promoting them, but c'est la vie.
Looks cool and like I said, we'll see how the install goes. I have a bum shoulder so hopefully that won't get in the way. Frankly this may get too involved for me and I'll need OJ or Joker's help.

Well, Jokeypoo is correct that my bags have been manhandled ... oooh and it feels so good.
We actually spent an afternoon putting the detachable bag hardware on the Heritage on Saturday.
Well, ok, I lied.
Joker put them on and did ALL the heavy lifting while I stood around like a man-gimp and watched. There were actually a number of issues with this product which I'll detail out in the manfacturer product review section soon.
Thanks again to Joker for his helping out a primate in a time of need.

Pix are too personal to post. You ever read "The Naked Ape?"
Nawp forgot the camera as I thought it would be a quickie install. Turned out there were some unnecessary issues that ate up time and effort. Truth is: shoulda coulda woulda brought a camera if I'd known it was going to consume hours like it did.

Things rarely go "as planned", when it comes to modifying a bike !

Well, no, bits can't fall off. Having bad fitment or rattley components is much different. Perhaps the rattle or fitment issue is still there AFTER using loctite, but things put on with care don't just ... boink ... fall off.
For that matter, what kind of mankering wuppet shears bolts MIDWAY? Great minds have discussed this and come to the same conclusion: Wasn't cheap metal, or over tightening (cuz they'd shear off at the head), it was riding like a raging lunatic ...
