Default Section for newbie builders?

I'm going to build a bike when I get back to the states. I have NEVER built one. In fact, my greatest mechanical successes were replacing the radiator on my Nissan (easier repair than changing a flat), installing the Big Sucker on my Dyna (easy), and replacing my exhaust pipes on the Dyna (easy-ish). But when it comes to things like mounting an engine/tranny, lining up wheels, flamshooters and combobulators... I'm toast. So... I was thinking, what if we had a Newbie Builder section where guys like me can get support and pay it back by later being able to contribute in the other sections, throw up pictures of the build, directions, learnings, experiences, successes. I know I would document the shitt out of my build if I had that obligation, you know?

Just a thought. Probably self serving, but it could help differentiate this forum.

great idea and well put.

the guys are really generous with their advice but sometimes it is tough to admit that you are starting from a base of virtually nil knowledge. I am still summoning up the courage to spark up the disc cutter but am very wary of making stupid mistakes. I see the photos of Sk8 & Bosks work and know that this has been borne out of years of experience that I simply do not have. Trial and error is a scary propsect on a 10k ride.

Sounds like a great idea to me!

If I had somewhere to actually do stuff I'd be tempted to build a drop seat hardtail
