I like both flags. I can download from your ftp if you have one. I'm not sure of the file size allowed by email but my guess is these are over that size. any one of you can always reach me at admin@lane79.com but the big files probably will bounce.
Also, will the tshirt guys do the softening of the edges to sort of a rounded corner square with soft ragged edges? Or is that something we need to do?

Dax, tell me how wide you want the shield in inches, and I'll send you the right file for the tee shirt guys. I can soften the edges, rag the edges, etc. I also have a large file email capability we can try first. If not, I'll send ftp instructions.
The attached files should be okay size for web use.

Can I push the envelope and ask for the other two shield ones (road and Flag) to be edge softened as well? Don't slap me!!
never mind, I didn't fully read your post above. When I'm ready to rag or soften with larger res I'll let you know. Okay?

Sure. Just tell me which ones you want and the size/s, and I'll get them to you, ragged, or whatever. No slaps. Closed fist manly punches only.

I hadn't been on here (this thread) in a while, but I can say you guys are doing a great job with the logo. Way to go FB! I'm sure that whatever you guys finally decide on, it will be great. I kinda liked the open road for the background. I can't wait to get mine!

DAX...when these shirts and stuff are up for sale are you going to use a PayPal shopping cart for purchases???

Hate to be a kill joy guys but I am NOT in favor of Tattering, tearing, or in any other way diminishing that flag!!! She flys clean and proud or not at all on my back!!! I apologize for the metric on an HD Forum.

The flag is what is is in the background, we're not gonna tatter it greydog.
Paypal shopping cart yes when we get them.
I like open road as well. I just talked to my ad specialties friend who freaked out at full color and said it would be pricey. How pricey I don't know until he quotes me. Gotta be a wholesale place around. I'm gonna check. Said something about color separations? Isn't there a way to print tshirts without having to use color separations. Digital or something? Best is probably silk screen but then the color seps come into play. Same with mugs from what I hear. But he could be wrong ... ??

Dax, in the computer age the old buggaboo about color seps is really gone away. When a full color image is silkscreened, it is necessary to create a 4-color process (CMYK) separation of the image to create film positives from which screens can be made. The file will come off my Mac already separated C/M/Y/K. In the old days, it meant plate-making and photographic processes. Not so today. This is not digital printing. It is digital pre-press.
Digital printing will only work for heat transfers, which you can do on any $50 epson ink jet printer. But you don't want to do more than a few this way. Also, large heat transfers don't breathe on the fabric, so they are uncomfortable and usually begin to peal after being in a dryer.

Now that is info one can take to the bank. Thanks, FB. I was heavily involved with printing back in the early 80's. There was no digital prepress and about the most exciting things out were Itek cameras and typesetting machines. Film and pasteup was about the only way to do anything. I love our forum here, you can learn as well as interact.

Here's a minimally tattered edge--Greydog, it suggests heroic use, not abuse!

Printing on a lighter color shirt would prevent having to lay down a white mask layer first (five colors).

on the moco thing, there are so many hd things out there being sold. yes, the company has its brand police sniffing everywhere (most large corps do), but they're really looking for large-scale profiteers, which aim to fool the public into thinking they're getting the brand. don't use their logo, their bar/shield, or their color scheme and you'll be fine. especially if you're just selling shirts/patches and not making a profit (or at least a big one).
on the graphics - damn FB does nice work. i printed some large sizes out and put them on shirts. the shield against the road is by far the most striking (subjective), and legible from a distance (objective).
i welcome any change due from my $0.02

Nice work!!! I like it. Didn't intend for my previous comment to sound confrontational so I hope no one took it that way. Being a 22 year Navy man I sometimes get pretty protective of "Old Glory"

I can see why you wanted to be the Resident Turd, Jokie ... always brownnosing! But seriously, I can't tell you how lucky we are to have fortbriscoe contributing so much effort and skills to this project. I agree on the road one and would only like to see the corners slightly rounded and not tattered but rather a softer cloudier edge so the edge isn't so distinct.
If we grow to a significant size, which is the plan, the moco may say that we are attracting members based on their name if we are using HarleyRidersUSA.com. Whether true or not, I don't want to get OUR brand recognition out there ruined if we dump all efforts into HarleyRidersUSA.com and they seriously hassle us. We'd have to let everyone know that we are now HDRidersUSA.com and that would be a major PITA. Plus if we have any club products that anyone tries to sell on ebay or whereever it would be bad. We don't have the money to get in a pissing contest with HD. Who does? Unless there is a lawyer in our bunch to give some advice ... ?? Trust me, I'd rather use the HarleyRidersUSA.com domain.
So the safe bet is to do what were doing, say what we want on the shirts but utilize the HDRidersUSA.com brand/name/url. I usually don't take the safe way, but this one is too important to ignore.
Either way, you can use either url to get here!!

points taken. everybody knows hd = harley, so if you keep both urls and stick with the HD you should be fine. and if you really want to be safe, you could always maintain that the 'HD' in hdriders stands for :
half drunk
honest dogs
hairy dingleberries
hypertensive dentists
huntington's disease
hydrogen drain
harmonization document
hierarchical data
halogenated dibenzofuran

I like the look of the full color on black but would consider doing a 1 or 2 color with the black ones. Maybe silver ?? Dunno the cost diff yet.

Let me know, and I'll work on converting the image to a one color design. I did a quick conversion to one color, and the whole thing goes to mud, so I would need to mess with it some. I'll post the road change in a bit.

Good point Sk8. I think it would be nice on the back. And that other hdriders text only small on the front like where a pocket would be, but no pockets please
