Default WELL HELLO!

hello all!
i ride a 09 street bob.
just moved to newport beach, ca from albuquerque, nm within this last month.
been surfing your guys' forum for a few days now (mainly in the dyna glide section).
the day before i was heading out a chick ran a red light and hit me, so i trailered up my sled and kept on track with the movin, dropped her off at the "local" Anaheim/Fullerton Harley Davidson (who happen to be absolutely amazing) when i arrived and shes been in the shop since. turns out great because they've been workin with me to swap parts & add parts while shes in there. way excited, shes gonna come out a different ride im pretty pumped.. i dont really have a good photo of her after i got rid of the "plain jane" look.
below is the most recent i have

thanks sk8 :-)
been seein you guys have got some rockin bobs goin on here. mad props. tons of visual inspiration haha :-D
i was always scared of having to lay down my wheels because i never wanted to find out how big of a chunk it would put in my pocket lol...
got the the bill and it came out to almost 5,000 frog skins.
i decided to look at the glass half full and do somethin different with whats gettin replaced.
its not too too much, but alot in my book, considering how long ive wanted to shake this bike up.

- powder coating my outer primary black
- v&h competition series exhaust (black)
- black triple trees, same ones that are on the fat bob (f$#@ the integrated riser, whoever's idea that was fails in my book)
- 16" apes (black), still trying to work it out in my head though, im thinkin im gonna end up doin 14" apes with 3" or 4" risers (chrome)

also wanting to lower an inch in the back and front but its lookin like i might run out of money before that can happen.
my entire front assembly is being replaced, except for the sliders (go figure they're something i would love to have black)

-

thanks everybody!

sk8,
awe man, i was afraid to hear lowering would be a sad step to miss
is it a real noticeable difference when it just get thrown down an inch all around?

im a pretty big guy (and will have a chica on the back occasionally) heard that its good not to go below an inch in the rear?
how much did it cost you guys for the progressive front springs to lower?
maybe ill have to sell my sub system to compensate, once i have my wheels back my cage wont get driven whatsoever anymore anyway

i can def say this "california winter" is gonna be quite nice compared to havin to guess my layers for midnight rides in 15degrees back in the 505.

mixtacy,
yeah man first and really the only bike the popped out to me hands down when i walked into the dealership after i had gotten it though i found myself lookin at a few fat bob photos but lall around dig my bikes looks to much to give her up. she could be a bit bigger, but for the size of engine they come with, i cant complain.

sk8,
most drop kits im finding are around 100, which isnt bad as i thought.
found this: Harley Dyna 06-09 Front Lowering Kit Progressive Spring : eBay Motors (item 330404612907 end time Feb-23-10 09:27:07 PST)
doesnt the bob have 41mm forks though? is this guy on crack or am i?

i am def lovin it being here in so-cal man! only bummer is ive been here for a month and a half and havent been able to even get a cruise on yet (plus the helmet law kinda sucks, what can yuh do i guess )

also, what is the length of my stock rear shocks right now? i figure all this stuff is in my manual... but theres not enough pictures in that thing

Street bob front forks are 49mm... That makes them harder to find fork stuff since most ar 39 and 41. I got my front kit from americanclassicmotors. They usually have the lowest price and do free shipping. I bought my front shocks, rear shocks, and seat from them. If you call and haggle they ll takeabout 10 bucks off each item. Just say you saw it somewhere online cheaper... I'm not sure rear shocks but I put 11 inch progressive 411s and it definitly slammed it!

+ 1 with Paul there.

12" or thereabouts

I just bought two kits from Eastern Cycles on eBay for about 70 bucks each. Progressive do two kits. The drop in kit, which is easy to fit or the older, cheaper kit. This ya have to fully strip down the fork.

So on an older bike you would need a seal kit & 4 bottles of fork oil as those big 49s take nearly two bottles each!!!
