The softail seems to do it when it's up to temp. The RK doesn't seem to do it at all.

Just one fart when you just get on the throttle, after being off for a bit ?

Hmmm, seems the way it happens is, when I'm coming to a stop I down shift and have the rpms up higher than others would because I like the sound of my pipes poping and back firing as I'm slowing. Then upon accelerating I'll get the cough, or the lean fart you so elloquently described. I may have my jets wrong. Put a yost power tube in 4-5 years ago, and changed the jets to what the dealer that sold me the tube suggested. Think the last time I replaced my plugs in the softy, they looked good, so I didn't fuk with the jets. Doesn't seem to happen to often, but it is only when it's up to temp. I've never touched the RK, it's the way I bought it. Hope this helped.

Helps a LOT !
I asked on another forum what they thought my all red anodized needle came from, and the closest they could figure was it was an older Yost kit.
I'm either going to buy a Mikuni carb, or try and get all the parts to put my CV, back to stock! ( other than jetting of course).

Update on this, not a single cough, in two tanks of gas since installing a Mikuni HSR 42, along with fresh intake seals !
