Great looking engine with nice specs. I hope it works out for Indian. I have always liked them. Polaris needs to build a better dealer network to compete.

I'm not quite sure but I believe that Polaris bought the Indian name about 1 1/2 - 2 years ago.

I just hope they keep Ness away from any chassis designing and stay with a more classic look. Either way as has been the case for the Indian brand, its sure to cost a fortune.

As for me, its Harley's to the bitter end. I just enjoy new mechanical inovations, which opens the door to good discussions about where things are going.

Yeah I knew that they had bought it, just not how long ago. It certainly needed to be revamped from that S&S Evo engine.

I kinda like the look of the 'flathead' looking valve covers, but I have the feeling with a gear drive primary, that it will have a short squatty lower end like a Kawasaki 1500-1600 V-twins. I'll be interested to see one in person, I have a dealer here within 15 miles but I dont think they will have them untill sometime next year.

Like the look, wouldn't mind buying one but the price is a little steep for an unproven bike.

Polaris bought it late last year. The company was Indian. This was the third generation, with their own in house engine builder. The s&s went out with the last generation when Indian was resurrected in 2008. ( the actual model came out in 09 ), with one of the best looking engines I've seen. Over 100 cubes of power, but only a 2into one exhaust, and not much else for ad ons. They only had 4 models, all based on the Chief. The base model started at 25k. The plant was in Kings Mountain N.C. ,and as Old ideas are rushed to be redeemed. They priced themselves out of business.
Now Polaris is stepping up to change an already impressive engine with something slightly larger, ,but to change the entire engine. ( seems like they're backing up before they ever take a step forward ), and add reastat electronics is shure to be another over priced burden on an already cursed name.
A reastat for a throttle is soon to fail.
