wasnt the first FXDB the Sturgis in the early 90s, so really the current FXDB should have an i on it also....

i think the sturgis was FXDB which is why technically you need to refer to the SB as a FXDBi..
in fact have just checked and the FXDB Sturgis was 1991 and the FXDB Dyna Daytona was 1992..
you see, what a fine pedigree the Bob has... i'm tellin ya its the one to own,, but you wont listen

To further complicate I think that the early FXDB was FX (superglide family) DB (dual belt) thats back when XL was sportster, FL touring, FLH touring high compression, and FX sportster front end on a touring frame.
That's also the time frame when any part would interchange from 1936 to 1984. Some exceptions of course.
