Default Buyer BEWARE

Ok , so I'm looking for a set of handlebars for my softail and usually I buy from either the Harley dealer or J&P cycles, I must've had a grey moment and I decide to look on the internut and ended up on Ebay. I find a set of bars that I thought looked pretty cool, they were a set of fat 12 inch apes with internally wired chrome switch blocks and for around $600 aus/dollars they were priced ok. So I order a set from the manufacturer Demon Cycles in Florida . When they got here the bars had the neutral protection switch missing , it had the big f##king hole for it and it was on the wiring diagram that came with the bars but no switch. I get in touch with Demon cycles, they tell me if I want the switch its an extra 20 buck's American, I tell them they are dreaming as the handlebars description was that they were for my bike READY TO GO and if I was to fit the switch I'd have to strip out the wiring from the bars, fit the switch and rewire the bars again.......something I had already paid extra for when I had bought them So now I get Ebay involved as the item isn't as described also were the bars bend they reduce back down to 1 inch and were the switch blocks meet the fatter part of the bar's, they hadn't machined the edge so there's a tapper leaving a gap that just looked shit So there's a bit off a blue between the myself, Ebay and Demon Cycles. Eventually Demon Cycles agrees to the return but they tell Ebay that because I'm in Australia they can't send me a return voucher, they con Ebay into Ebay sending me a email saying that if I return the bars then Ebay would refund me the postage. So off I go, post Demon's shit back to them at a cost off about $96 aussie. I then send a copy of the receipt and tracking number to both Ebay and Dumbshit cycles. Ebay then say they can't refund me the postage its upto Dumbshit cycles to refund the return postage, Dumbshit cycles then start saying that Ebay had promised to refund the return postage. At this point I'm thinking the Demon Cycles have found a way of conning people out off the return postage by tricking the Ebay call centre staff. This argument goes on for around 10 months before I send an email to the C.E.O. of Ebay in California and within 2 day's the money is bank in my back. So just remember if you have dealing's with Demon Cycles in Florida.....BUYER BEWARE.

Default Handlebars

I can imagine that it must be tough purchasing prroducts (especially aftermarket) being on the other side of the planet when it comes to returns etc. And especially with your costs being what they are. I can't speak for Demon Cycles personally as I've never purchased anything from them, although I have read some bad reviews about their customer service. I've been going through 'Revzilla' of late, great product selection and their online and phone feedback/technical staff in my experience has been great. When it comes to questions about a product, J&P Cycles has left me hanging on more than one occasion.

I get that you have already looked into returning them.
But for what it's worth, the gap on the bars where the taper meets the controls is a common sight on a lot of bar swaps. To get rid of the gap, in some cases depending on the length of your grips, you can carefully mark the bars (naturally after removing controls) and shorten the ends the needed amount with a hacksaw. I've done it a few times and it's not too big of a deal. Some bar manufacturers will even recommend this.

Although for what you paid for bars with controls that were supposed to be ready to bolt on, they should look 'perfect' with no gaps whatsoever. I can certainly understand your frustration.

Hope you get it resolved in a satisfactory manner. Would be intetested to see how it turns out with Demon Cycles.
Cheers

I'm a bit fussy about the stuff I put on my bike mate But Ebay came to the party and refunded my money but only after the C.E.O got involved

I know all about being "fussy".. I'm pretty particular myself when it comes to my stuff (bikes included).
Was just trying to help with a fix if you had perhaps decided to keep them.
Glad to hear you got your money back.
