Need some bike advice...
Whats going on HD Riders...I've finally paid off the wife's car, put enough money into savings, and got everything to the point where I can actually buy something for myself for once....A NEW HARLEY!!!! That being said I need some advice...
This will be my first Harley. I ride my little brothers Nightster all the time and have riden my buddies Fat Boy Low. The Nightster is great but I know I'd want more engine very soon. The Fat Boy had plenty of engine but was just too freakin big. So i've been looking at a Dyna. Specifically the Street Bob. I've sat on it a bunch of times and it feels great. I was planning on going ahead and getting this bike in October when I return from Iraq but I just found a 1995 HD Badboy on craigslist for $6200. Here is the link: 1995 Harley Bad Boy (yes this post is pretty old but i spoke with the dealer and the bike is still there). I love the Springer Front end on the Badboy and like the blacked out look.
Regardless of which bike i get i'm planning on doing some cosmetic changes right away. For example: 180 Rear Tire, DCC Voodoo Rear Fender, Drag Bars, you get the idea. I want a mean blacked out look for my bike, but i'm not a chopper guy. I'm more into the Bobber style but I want to modernize it.
So finally to my point....What should I get? The Street Bob or the Badboy? Let me know people. I was planning on buying the Bob brand new so cost isn't an issue. I just want to know if buying a bike from 1995 would be risky and/or if its a good bike period. Please let me know what you think. Any advice would help....Thanks

There'll be others with more knowledge than me on dynas, and without a doubt they'll have opinions that will revolve around the Street Bob. This time I'd have to agree with them! Dunno what a "bad boy" is but maybe I missed the boat on that one. Looks like a softail FXSTC to me ...
The guys here will help you black out your bob six ways to sunday so doubtful you can go wrong with that choice.
Only thing better would be a bagger ...

Welcome to the forum
IMO Street Bob. No doubt, 100%
I could give you a brazillian reasons, but Dax would just beat me again! Suffice to say you get the perfect motor/frame package and from there can build your own killer scoot.
Don't even think bagger, unless your done with living and wizz into a bag.
Finally, the senior ape is right, you will get all the help you need here, for we are a Street Bob forum

You're talking about FAT BOY or FAT BOB ???. In you post it's not clear for me...
Take care, these 2 bikes are really different : FAT BOB is almost the same bike than the street bob (then why choose the fat ? The street will be more fun to drive), they are both dynas. But Fat boy is a softail, it's really not that fun to drive, but the good point is the swingarm with hidden shoks, which is good for customing...
IMO street bob rules : it's the better torque/weight harley never made, and it's really easy to 'rebuild'

IMO get a used Street Bob 2007/08 for a good price. The money you save buying it, you get parts like the Voodoofender, bars etc.

I know this forum has gone to hot rods and such.........
What is it that you want......from the sound of it you want a Harleyized "sport bike"
COMFORT AND CRUISING or HOT RODDING AND GO FAST??

Is the wife going to be riding with you any percent of the time? If she's not happy on the back it will be tough to get time out on the bike beyond your daily commute. The Bad Boy looks cool and springer front ends are always cool looking too.

ok Moose,, fair comment,, BUT
NEVER EVER.... UNDER ANY... circumstance, let the opinions, wishes or needs of a fckin passenger dictate your ride or the ride you would wish to own..
bottom line, you buy a bike for yourself,,
compromise and fail !

Said by a man who's girlfriend doesn't ride on the back of his bike. Of course it was a fair trade, you got to cut off the back of the seat and your rear fender and Lisa got to put your balls in her purse.

Softtails are too heavy... I just rode a Heritage, Crossbones, and Standard and it was so f'ing slow. The springer looks great, but it's just oooold. Lots of parts...
