You never get it fixed up HB. My wife has had this for years and she has just learned the signs of it happening and controlling it. When she first started having these attacks it would be so bad it would make her throw up violently.

But this condition sounds completely different from what Manybikes has.

Thanks for the reply! Initially they thought I had BPPV as I started to suffer drop vertigo attacks that would only last seconds but were quite violent (as you well know)
Tried the Epely manouvers and thought I had it licked...not so.
I also got hit with one of these attacks while riding in heavy traffic...a true test of riding ability that very few get to experience, was able to keep my cool and make it safely to the side of the road.
These only lasted a couple of months as they were due to both sides of my inner ear function were dying and the imbalance created the drop vertigo.
I no longer get these because I have no remaining function to cause them. Sounds like your wife may have Menieres (just guessing) if the BPPV manuevers don't work.
I was glad when the vertigo stopped but then faced a whole new challenge of life with no function. I suffered from severe oscillopsia for several years but have been able to adapt and overcome this. Ocsillopsia by the way is horrific.
I have read where some people have had success treating Menieres and possibly BPPV by taking a drug called Valltrix (I think). This is an antiviral that fights the Herpes virus (not the sexual kind). If you have ever had Chicken Pox you have a dormant type of this virus.
Just before my problems started I had the pleasure of getting Shingles which anyone can get if they have had Chicken Pox. I feel this might be related to my condition.
Kudos to you and your wife for continuing to ride, anyone who can ride with a vestibular issue is indeed dedicated...not to mention tougher than shit.
