need info on dunlop D401 tires
We need a Tire Section under the Wrenching forums. Anyways as most have read I need to get some tires soon. So I'm doing my research now. One question is the tire I have on them They are Dunlop D401 front and back. Anyone know anything about these? Are these stock dunlops or and model outside of stock? I've found one site easternperformance that has them for 99.95 each. This would not be my only choice but getting list together for each brand then I can make my choice. Being that my bike was used when I bought it I don't know if these are the orignal tires on it to begin with or they were put one before I got them I have 13k miles on the bike now and both need to be replaced. The tire sizes are Front Dunlop D401 100/90 - 19 m/c 57H and back Dunlop D401 150/80B16 m/c 71H

My stock Dunlaps did me fine and I know they are popular due to price and their overall life. At 13K you are certainly due for some rubber if those are stock.
Sk8 talked me into some Metzlers last week for the rims I ordered, a little spendy but I have to take the Brits word for it, them folks ain't never let me down before.

I've used Metzlers, Dunlops and Avons and find Avon tires just as good as any. Metzlers are a great tire, but real expensive.

401's are the stock tire for Sportsters and some of the Dyna's. 402's are stock on the heavier bikes AKA Baggers. The 402's cost more usually and some say they ride a little rougher. The 402's should be OK on your Sportster but the 401's are the stock tire. I just bought 401's for my Lowrider for what it's worth. The 402's might give you a little more mileage. Oh and Baggers Rule.

Is there a difference in a 150/80H-16 BLK rear tire and the 150\80B16 that I have. Seems like every website has 401's but each have a different letter on the size.

Well my front is a D401F. I see 401's on web sites but most don't have the F after the 401. I would think they are the same but I'm proballly wrong.

Never mind the last question. I figured it out and yes they are the same per Dunlops website. But I was wandering if anyone ever dealt with DennisKirk on anything. They seem to have the lowest price for tires and they will beat any price. From review I have found online people how order from them are happy with the service.

I have bought a couple things from them, no problems. Just make sure you compare shipping costs also, some places try to make up for what they lost trying to bet some other places price.

Well I placed a order with then over the phone with the 24x7 ordering. Glade I got to talk to a live person real quick really. Paid total 203.36 for both tires and a t-shirt. including shipping. I really like Ron's too that you told me about they had the next best price of 211.00
