Lgordo is infamous around these parts
Default Speedometer is jumping around

Hi, Hope I'm in the right place.

I have a 2003 Fatboy. It has 17k on it. Have never had any problem with it at all!

Today the speedometer began to jump all over the place. After about 10 miles it begins to settle down. When I run a constant speed it seems to (after a while) hold at the correct speed .

That being said, at any time it can just start jumping from 70 to 60 to 25 to 70 etc.

I can still get my true speed, but it is a problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. Lgordo.

Hey; LGordo -likin' your Shane quote. The cable can be lubed with graphite powder (inexpensive), and check the speedo drive(grease it). they are really simple in design.

Hey mate try unscrewing the the speedo sender out of the gearbox and give it a clean.....sometimes they will pick up crap from the gearbox and if that's the case give your gearbox a birthday with an oil change
