I know you can talk to Pete about this but I know he Just buys a new hoop and re-laces it to his hub. Never done this myself but the way I understand it the pricey part is the hub, which you already have.

Yup Mikes right, buy a rim and lace it to you OEM hub. Cheaper, easier, much less hassle.
If you want the best rim check out HDwheels.
Or shoot Paul a PM coz he just found a good place.
I am now running a 4" front rim with a 130 & it fits in my stock fork setup.

Get a local Co to lace it up, don't cost much and is worth it coz they are a nightmare.

i got mine from here:
Buchanan's Spoke & Rim, Inc
good pricing and fast shipping...had the local guy powder and lace them...one thing i dont wanna mess with is the wheels..too important... i was able to keep my front fender on..it hugs it just like the rear but it looks really good. i used 21x3.5 rim and had it laced with my original hub....most custom wheels would require you to get a wide glide front end..

Thats not true. I polished all the chrome at the begining of last riding season, then it just gets a regular bath every couple of weeks during the season.
I dont ride in the rain.

There's about 3/4" of mounting tab below the spacers. I dont think it needs to come off .
