Plate number Frame
Just got back home after some talk with the Police. I found out that I can not install and Enjoy my new Side plate number.
Love the Rocket Bob style, and I want that so bad. So, I am trying to sketch something that can work with it. I used sk8rod sig to do my illustration on what I am going to do next.
Tomorrow, the bike will be parked for few weeks and it is great time to work on it by myself. To design and interpretate what is RocketBob is, I need your help/input. I will be working on the plate myself, so I will be quite slow untill I finish it.
The rules are that it should be in it's standard place! Clear visible plate number, exactly behind the rear wheel. No side plate number, no 90 deg rotated number, and it should not show that it is easy to remove it or lift it (Some bikes have the side plate number, but can be rotated)
So, I came up with the image below. The plate frame is connected to the rear frame. It moves with the wheel.. I like it. Another option is to extend RocketBob's rear fender, but that will ruin the looks.. Anyway, I'm not the Photoshop, I suck at that.. Hope the image will be clear
What do you think?

do you want me to see what i can do with the fender ??
however i can see that isea of yours workin,, especially if you wire in the light somehow,, then they cant object..
i tell you,, the whole number plate thing is an absolute killer to bike styling... iam just waiting to get caught over here with mine,, then i have no idea what i am going to do

Mixtacy,
I see a lot of bikes around my area with vertical plates. I can't imagine it's a huge issue.
My car trailer's license plate is vertical and has been for 4 years now, never so much as a glance.
Hth,
Jim

Jdeatsch.. I live on long island where the cops pull you over for just about anything... I don't see them bother the cruiser bikes tho... Really just all the jap bikes that do wheelies up and down all day...but I wouldn't let no one tell me how to customize my bike!

That's exactly how it is here, cops are more interested in the jap heap riders.

hey sk8... how bout if u cut a hole in the fender the size of the lisc plate and put some kid of hinge behind it so that when he wants to ride he can pop it up..and when its parked he can lay it down...so it dont stick out like a sore thumb...i m no engineer but i think it prob could be done..may just have to bend the plate a lil

Have a feeling the cop's would frown on that set-up worse than a sidemount !
Shoot first, ask questions later .

How the hell do ya avoid the law . You stop at a red light, the first vehicle that pulls up behind you has red & blue lights on the roof .
