Street bob with Rocket Bobs custom fender !!!!!!!!!!!!
My latest (and coolest) customization to my 2008 street bob is taking off the stock hd fender and replacing it with a badass rocket bobs custom fender. it all started with wanting to side mount the plate and rear tailight. but every chopped stock fender just didnt look right to me. so then i thought about filling in the holes on the stock fender. not a bad idea..but not so custom it changes the whole look of the bike. dont get me wrong..the street bob looks great stock..but i just like different stuff. i wanted somethin unique.so searching on the internet i came across the rocket bob blog...the fender was just what i was looking for..he hooked it up and made it quicker then i expected it to take. shipped it to New York and here it is! thank you to rocket bobs for always answering my emails and helping me out..this is my first bike AND my first time doing more then just taking something off and bolting something back on..and so far its coming along great! My tail light and side mount is courtosy of Fabricator Kevin..who also always replies fast and is great with help. Thanks to him too!
stock:
First i removed the old fender and struts:
Then i put the new lights and fender on loosely so i can get it even and run my wires.
did the wiring:
tightened it all back up and this is how it came out!!!!:
I am exremely happy the way it came out. once i get my lepera barebones seat and lower the rear a little it going to look even better!
oh and my headlight isnt on bc its getting powdercoated! thanks again to pete for all his help all the way from the other side of the world! i drove it even though theres snow outside and it feels great. its strong enough to support a passenger too...let me know what you all think!

That looks awesome and top notch craftmanship as always from Rocket Bobs....
But gotta agree that the rear needs some lowering to close up the fender gap....but doing so will change the handeling of the bike so respect it....

I'm so proud you've done a great job. To pull it into line like it looks on mine you only have to lower the ride 1".
If you get an 18" rim laced to your oem hub at the same time the handling remains the same
But way cool,, can you mail me higher res pix please for our site gallery

Bike looks amazing!!
For lowering i can recommend you following:
1. Lowering blocks (cheap and fast) OR
2. Progressive suspensions 11" 412 Shocks OR
3. Burly Slammer kit (front & rear) Most value for money
A fast and cheap tire mod i also suggest the 180 Dunlop SE Tire that fits right on the OEM rim.
Contact me for help where to buy the above, i give you directions where in US to buy.

Pete does some pretty good work

ok well i found a good deal on progressive 412s 11" heavy duty shocks and ndrop in lowering kit. so after doing some research it seems as though it was the best value for the money. i paid for both what the shocks themselves retail for plus i had a gift card so it really cost me about 20 bucks! lol... so now my next questions is this....what do i still need to do to keep the feel of the ride realatively the same if not better... i know if i do the screamin eagle 180 it would help a little but should i still get the bigger rim..if i do that and keep my original hub do i need to get longer spokes? if do what size. i want this bike to look good but more importantly handle great..thanks for any advice bosken & sk8 ..tryin to make this bike as badass as it can be!!!

Sounds great with the Progs.
I recommend a bigger rim. Just get a 40 spokes 18" 5.5" rim, get the oem hub relaced and fit a 200 tire on there. Avon OR Metzeler. 200/50-18.
Like my old Bob... (80 spokes on there but i would not go there.. Keep your 40 hub.
While you are at it.. get the rim (and hub) powdered black....
My old Hydra bike... LOWERED 2.75" rear, 2" Front

New spokes...The lacer usually cut the old spokes, faster. Diameter differs 17-18 inch= longer spokes. But the HUB is the most expensive part.
I would recommend ebay OR the best: HD Wheels
I can answer for Rocket Pete Bob.,,YES 200, will fit !!

yeah way better and from a bad angle also,, are you using any shims in it ?? also those turns look sick but the struts are looking a bit grubby,, do you keep your hands clean when working on it??
ya know it says in the small print that you are duty bound to keep the fender kit clean and shiny at all times !

@mixtacy620 Looking good man! Same situation here, new to bikes. Got inspired by Rocket bob's work on Youtube. I am also waiting for my parts from Rocket Bob. They are AWESOME!
@sk8rod Your next project [if possible] is to mount the fender on the wheel arms, dead close! It should move up/down with the rear suspension, similar to the Rocker C. will that look too much or impossible..... hmmmmm
