You can reset without the fob so long as ya got the PIN. But try it out, sounds like it's ok & the needle does jump and then settle back down, my two do a lot of tweakin about when first switched on.

If it's still pullin an error & it's historical & ya don't have the PIN, then don't bother because after 50 or so starts it'll go back to normal.
